I’ve decided to open up my objects to general tools. A lot of the objects I was creating had an abstract relationship to the medical anyway and this allows a greater number of objects to be thought of / made easier. interested in the relationships between / spectrums/ conflations of time, physicality, unreality/reality of the speculative object: from the imaginary to the fictional, to props/models to the anti-aesthetic object. And, the unknown, unknowable and uncertain.
I’m interested in the idea of the exhibition space being a repository, collection or physical encyclopaedia of objects. Objects in presentation - not in function. Not specifically the formality of these but an abstracted idea of them. When thinking about this idea (and the idea of fictional/ unreality given physicality & mixed media communication) the presentation of exhibitions by Charles Avery (https://www.inglebygallery.com/exhibitions/7121-charles-avery-the-gates-of-onomatopoeia/installation_shots/) (https://www.xibtmagazine.com/en/2020/04/charles-avery/) is an example of how multiple media can come together within a space to form a “collection”
Thinking about how physical and digital objects can feed into one another “realms.” How time and real/ unreal objects can be conflated. Changing from physical objects to virtual or digital ones.
Example of one of the objects from mid-year made into a digital object. (not meant to be in same perspective)

Crust cutter
Alternatively, capturing physical objects and turning them into digital via 3D scanning. The main difference between rebuilding in virtuality and capturing in 3D scanning is that a real, physical, 3D, counterpoint / origin is more overt. From a 3D scan we know there is or was a 3D object the scan documents. Test with 3D scans using a mobile app “Qlone.” Glitches in capturing & merging perspectives. I think even though they aren’t “perfect” scans or objects - this reveals some of the slippage between transferring physical 3d forms into Virtual ones - especially when using - free and easily accessible technology & apps.

Thinking about artists Paul Cullen (https://www.paulcullenarchive.org/works) and Vladimir Arkhipov and the idea of having a digital archive of objects. Both digital and/or physical to present objects that may not be in the space at end of year out of selection / installation choices, cannot be in space because they are ephemeral - eg. have been deconstructed. Also having a digital archive also means I can provide digital open source files - where digital objects can be downloaded and re-edit by individuals for free - continuing the cycle of object -> material -> alternate object / form. Website I’ve created - has to externally link to sketch to provide downloadable .obj and .blend files. And for a link for viewing the object in augmented reality. https://celineframpton.wixsite.com/oarch
Experiments with conflating virtual/ digital and physical. Putting physical elements into digital and adding them into moving images, which would be projected to lay beside physical objects. (screen capture - actual video 1080P) - click on image below to show play button - then press play
Testing form / placement of text
Testing colours - references idea of holograms / text in film. An Overt reference to sci-fi. Blue has poor legibility. Green Ok. White or green text - need to be tested in projection. I think the nature of projection in the exhibition space and the subject matter / way they are placed with a black (not light emitting) background serves a hologram nature in itself. The colour of text is then not necessary. I quite enjoy the simplicity of the white font.
